Navadhanya Kuzhambu / Multi-grain Curry



This is the first time that I am trying this navadhanya kuzhambu, it tasted yummy :)

Navadhayam has lots of nutrients in them. I got it in a local store nearby.

Navadhanya Kuzhambu

No. of Servings : 4

Ingredients

Navadhanyam / Multi-grain - 250 gms

Onion - 1 medium

Tomato - 1 medium

Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp

Red chilli powder - 2 tsp

Coriander powder - 1 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Tamarind paste - 1 tbsp

Oil - 1 tbsp

Salt to taste

For tempering

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

Cumin seeds - 1 tsp



Preparation Method

1. Soak the navadhanyam overnight.

2. Pressure cook it for 15 minutes with little water. Keep aside.

3. In a kadai, heat oil and add mustard and cumin seeds. When the seeds begin to crackle add chopped onion and sauté till the onions turn translucent.

4. Then add ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell goes.

5. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté till the tomatoes are done and oil separates on the top.

6. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and tamarind paste and the cooked navadhanyam along with its water.

7. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.

8. Garnish with coriander leaves and curry leaves.

9. Serve with hot steamed rice or chappati.
